Howl at the Moon
Dropped in to see Lee and the guys for the launch of Howl gone wild. It is a
Thursday night with a DJ instead of the duelling pianos.
Very different for that venue, but it went pretty well. Not much around the area
on a Thursday, and it attracted a different crowd, although there were heaps of
Howl regulars. Good music, good people, and a bit of fun.
Captain Spalding starts a Wednesday there this week, and Lee Davies is back
every Thursday with funky commercial house and RnB.

Went to a place called "The Pool Room" on Thursday. Its on Burwood Hwy in
Ferntree Gully (a afir drive if you're from the south-east) at the base of the
mountain. Its a pool hall adapted into a small club scene. Wasnt a bad night.
You have to get there at about 9 coz it fills up and theres a line at bout 9:30.
Rock up early, have a game of pool (theres enough tables for everyone) have a
few drinks, get on the dance floor and listen to Adam12 do thier thing in 3 hour
long sets. Give it a go if you're up that way, shouldnt disappoint.

had awesome sets. The venue had almost a Prince feel on a weeknight. For those
who don't know, last night was the opening of Chicane's new Thursday. Turned

Went to Ozone @ Knox after the Wheelers. Huge queue outside Lou Lous. The
spillover went to see Bree and Katie at Seamus McPeakes. Very busy in there.

THE EAGLE BAR-La trobe uni.
Thursday nites are when la trobe students dump their bloody textbooks and head
out to the eagle bar, at la trobe uni. the venue is BIG, featuring
indoor/outdoor chilling out areas, a dancefloor, +pool tables and the most
important out of all-THE BAR ITSELF! Drinks are not cheap,and there are no
specials unforuntantely. In other words, the drink prices are comparble to
trendy city clubs & bars. however,dont let that scare you away! being a guy,
the price factor was compensated by the influx of hot uni chickies, so it is
worth going!!!!!
the music's pretty much top 40/commericial, personally not my type.
the place is quite until around 10:30pm, and it just goes off around midnight.
however it shuts at 1am, so if you're a hardcore party animal, try organise
another club or whatever to go to after the eagle bar.
the eagle bar is perhaps the best place in bundoora to catch up with mates on a
thursday nite.
pick up potential: hard, well, it was for me when i was there. and that's coz i
was really pissed. blame the beer.

They have Extreme Karaoke downstairs every week. It's so much fun. And

Went to Ozone. At first it looked like the dead zone, but there was quite a
crowd in at LouLous's and a few at Seamus McPeakes, or whatever they call it.
LouLou's was a full house for the most part. Its an RnB night, with an
interesting crowd. A real multicultural mix. People from all backgrounds, kind
of half way between Mothership and ZOS with the glamours from the old Stylus
thrown in (if I can show my age).
The Irish Pub was okay. The overflow from LouLou's helped.

Melbourne's alternative karaoke night, is the latest karaoke craze, and it goes
off at the Great Britain on Thursdays. Friendly people, singers of varying
standards but always entertaining, and lots of air guitar solo's. You might
want to sing a song yourself. They undoubtably have the best song list in
Melbourne, with lots of alternative , hip hop and indie stuff! It's so much fun
you might just get hooked.

Went to Ozone, the bar and restaurant area at Knox for the first time tonight. I
gather they call it Ozone because there are 0 (zero) women and it is a zone,
rather than the place (to be on Thursdays). A couple of the bars looked okay,
but they were a bit quiet and full of blokes, and the Irish Pub was slighly
busy, but dead set, 95% males. The $7 covercharge is a total rip-off too. I've
never seen an Irish pub with a covercharge and it ain't worth seeing for $7.
There's nothing there, especially women. I hope its better on other nights.
