Retro is a great night out.....there only down fall is the bunch of goons that hang around the front (the bouncers) its changed alot over the years that i have been going to RETRO.....the crowd is always great but so are other nightclubs.....the bouncers are completly ed in the heads......

No pretense (can wear anything), friendly diverse crowd, popular classics combined with the obscure. Security are ace. "One night in Bangkok" Dancefloor and 80's film projections provide the ultimate 80's party mood as you raise your voice and cut your moves across the smoky uneven vinyl. Alternative 80's progressive music on the upper floor can turn into the 90's Seattle explosion by the end of the night. Follow the maze of fluoro walls to a lounge room of your choice, a bar or the pool room. Bring your dancing shoes and a list of songs to request. Drink before you go.

if you love the old stuff, this is the best place in melbourne. downstairs
they play all the one hit wonders of the 80s, some 60s, a bit of 70s and
some early 90s – you'll hear songs you haven't heard for years (including
Neverding Story theme!) If you're more into alternative/goth oldies (cure,
smiths, tori amos, the stones, joy division etc etc) then upstairs is for
you. the DJs are both lovely (and sexy) and the security guys love to talk
to everyone. cheap entry, special cheap memberships but the drink prics
are average ($8 for a bottle of beer/spirits) ..... i'm addicted! the people are
so nice too! no chance of getting into a fight here unless you're searching

Club 383 is situated at 383 Lonsdale Street in the city. It looks like a bit of a dive from the outside, but inside it is a different story. The music is entirely from the 70s and 80s and when combined with the black and white checked vinyl floor, it all adds up to a very cheesy atmosphere.

Retro is frequented by people of all ages and as the dancefloor can take up the whole club, it never gets too packed. The cost is about $6 or $7 and I can't comment on the drink prices because I don't drink.
